Travel Hammocks

Orienteering with a travel hammock in your rucksack might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you give it a try you maybe surprised how much you like it.
Some might think that a hammock is not much use when backpacking but as anyone whose tried it will vouch; it's a lot more comfortable than sleeping on the ground.
Obviously you have to find some trees to hang between but if you are trekking through any forested parts in North and South America, Europe,India, New Zealand or the Caribbean then the opportunity can arise with pleasing frequency.
Our travel hammock comes in it's own stuff sack and with two lengths of rope you can set it up in literally minutes. There is nothing quite as rewarding as chilling in your newly hung hammock with the weight off your aching feet just enjoying the view or listening to the stillness of nature.
Why not watch the videos we have put on YouTube showing how quick it is to set up and pack away a travel hammock. First thing to do is locate two sturdy trees between 12 and 15 feet apart. Tie a length of rope at between 5 and 6 feet off the ground round both trees hook each end of the hammock to the ropes then carefully sit on the hammock to test the ropes are gripping the trees snuggly. Our travel hammock may not provide all mod cons for surviving in the wild but as a light and easy solution to just enjoying communing with nature in relative comfort they can't be beat.

Paradise Hammocks are made from a man-made nylon called Parachute Silk, the same material that parachutes are made from.

Parachute Silk is a breathing fabric meaning that it will not trap the bodies moisture making it extremely comfortable to lie in. Parachute silk is a strong and very lightweight material, able to take up to 160 kilos (350 Pounds) in weight.

A single weighs 550 gm (1 pound 4 ounces) and a double Triple stitching, doubled seams and nylon thread are all examples of our very high manufacturing standards.

A Paradise Hammock will withstand the destructive forces of sun & rain, much better than traditional rope or cotton hammocks. Securing lines are made from nautical rope which have great strength and are resistant to weathering as well.

There are no fine threads to become tangled unlike certain types of hammock.

These are a superior handmade hammock; the triple stitching showing the attention to detail Unlike a Mexican or Brazilian hammock they have no strings to become tangled. The parachute silk does not rot or become covered in mildew; and unlike traditional hammocks can be machine washed. The Hammock in a bag is made from parachute silk; a super lightweight but very strong manmade fabric. It comes in three sizes: Childs, Single and Double.

At each end of the ham mock is a 20cm loop of nautical rope with an 'S' hook. The open end of the 'S' hook can be hooked onto the fixing rope (available from our shop). The bag which the hammock packs away into is stitched onto the side of the hammock in the centre. This makes a handy pocket when sitting in the hammock. We sell the fixing rope separately to keep the hammock as compact as possible and easy to fold away into its drawstring pouch.
